ST. LOUIS – Olivia Rogers (Boulder, Colo.), a sophomore on the Drake University women’s track and field team, has been named one of 10 student-athletes to receive the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Good Neighbor Award for the 2017-18 spring season. The other spring nominees for the MVC Good Neighbor Award include: Malini Wijesinghe, Bradley, Women’s Tennis; Alexandra Latoria, Evansville, Softball; Kiley Walsh, Illinois State, Women’s Golf; Bailey Martin, Indiana State, Softball; Brooke Wilson, Loyola, Softball; Claire Schwarz, Missouri State, Women’s Outdoor Track & Field; Savanna Hunt, UNI, Women’s Tennis; Katelyn Massa, Southern Illinois, Softball; and Madison McCreary, Valparaiso, Women’s Golf. Print Friendly Version During the 2018 indoor season, Rogers ran her personal best in the 3,000 meters at 10:40.11 and ran a leg of the Bulldogs’ distance medley relay that finished eight at the MVC Indoor Championship. Her current outdoor bests are in the 800 meters with a time of 2:25.79, and the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:49.82 set in finishing second at the Jim Duncan Invitational. In order to be eligible for the award, the student-athlete must be in good academic standing, must demonstrate good citizenship through good sportsmanship and significant community service, and must participate in a sport, during the season of recognition. The Valley recognizes 10 student-athletes three times annually (fall, winter, spring), for a total of 30 honorees. Institutions select their State Farm MVC Good Neighbor Award Honorees.Rogers has volunteered with many organizations including, Children & Families of Iowa Domestic Violence Shelter, Lafayette Peer Empowerment Program Mentor, Joppa Houses and Meals from the Heartland. She has also volunteered during National Girls & Women in Sports Day.Rogers holds a 3.65 cumulative GPA with a major in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology. She has also been named to the Dean’s list.
