Women’s Tennis Falls To Iowa

first_imgDES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women’s tennis team dropped a tough 4-1 decision to the Iowa Hawkeyes on Wednesday afternoon at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center.Iowa’s Anastasia Reimchen and Zoe Douglas defeated Mariel Ante and Mela Jaglarz, 6-2 at No. 1 before Drake’s Summer Brills and Joely Lomas beat Taylor Tamblyn and Kristen Thoms, 6-3 at the No. 3 spot to split the first two doubles matches. The Hawkeyes managed to win the hard fought doubles point with Aimee Tarun and Adorabol Huckleby earning a 6-2 win on court two.Iowa quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead with straight set wins on courts one and six. Lomas put the Bulldogs on the board with a 6-3, 7-6 win over Tarun at the No. 5 spot.After dropping the first set 6-4, Tess Herder was down 5-1 in the second set but came back to send the set into a tiebreaker.
